Rob works with our partner companies and is involved in due diligence of our investments.

Prior to joining TSG Consumer Partners, Rob was an investment banker at Jefferies, where he advised Consumer and Retail clients across a variety of transactions including mergers & acquisitions and debt and equity financings. Rob graduated Summa Cum Laude with Honors from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a BS in Business Administration, concentrating in Finance.


What was the first job you had?  

Snack bar cook at a golf course! Someone decided it was a good idea to leave an unsupervised teenager in charge of an entire kitchen. Needless to say, I got a lot of questions when people started calling the clubhouse asking for my signature invention, the “McWagner.”

What attracted you to the business of brand building?

In my mind, brands sit at the nexus of tangible (a product or service) and intangible (consumer psychology). A brand’s success, or lack thereof, is rooted in many factors beyond physical product and requires you to think cross-functionally. The more you understand what makes consumers tick, the more you understand the world around you.

What attracted you to TSG?  

A variety of things, but put simply: TSG has exceptional people and an exceptional track record of building iconic consumer brands. As a brand enthusiast, the opportunity to work alongside the most accomplished investors and minds in the space was impossible to pass up.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

“Fortune favors the bold.” (Nearly) every risk I’ve taken has turned out better than I could’ve imagined. Get out of your comfort zone, don’t hold yourself back.
