Matt has been working in the analytics field for nearly 20 years. After starting out in performance analysis within financial services, he switched focus after the banking crisis in 2008. Since then, he has worked in different industries with experience across the data and analytics spectrum including data engineering, visualization, reporting, market research, and modeling. At TSG, Matt has had the pleasure of helping portfolio companies build, develop, and grow their analytical capabilities. This can include anything from setting up data architecture and infrastructure to building out reporting and everything in between.

What was the first job you had?
My first job as teenager was working in a local drugstore. Most of my time was working in the pharmacy area as a cashier. The head pharmacist was a great guy. He would explain what all the drugs were for whenever a prescription came in. I almost became a pharmacist because of him!
What brings you the most joy in your job?
I really enjoy seeing how analytics can change companies for the better. Even more than that, I love being able to help people level up on data skills especially those who otherwise had no background.
What is your greatest accomplishment?
I’ve been lucky over the years to mentor and lead some very talented people. Some have gone on to lead their own analytics teams and a couple have even started their own analytics consulting firms. Watching people grow and develop their talents has always been the best part of my career.
What attracted you to TSG?
Being able to work with smart people who are experts in their fields. I also love that I get to work with many different companies solving different data problems each time.
