Radio Systems Corporation
Radio Systems Corporation is a leading pet products supplier, primarily sold under the PetSafe, Invisible Fence, SportDog, and Innotek brands. The company was founded by Knoxville’s Randy Boyd in 1991, and sales of its first product, Radio Fence, reached nearly $1 million in the first six months post launch. Today, Radio Systems is the largest supplier of technology-based pet products, a title the company has held since 1996.
Our Partnership
In 2006, TSG developed a relationship with Radio Systems founder Randy Boyd, and supported RSC with capital to facilitate the acquisition of a key competitor. We exited that investment in 2012.
Because he valued our original partnership, as did we, Boyd re-engaged with TSG in 2016. We provided capital for RSC to use primarily to redeem certain minority shareholders seeking liquidity, while enabling Boyd to retain control of the business.
Strategic Focus
Currently, TSG provides support in regard to key strategic decisions across branding and packaging, channel management, customer relationships, and add-on acquisitions.
Demonstrated Impact
In our first investment cycle, TSG helped Radio Systems successfully integrate its largest competitor, Invisible Technologies. Since then, we’ve helped develop a strong product portfolio and pipeline with industry-leading United States- and China-based R&D teams, plus consummated several other accretive acquisitions, including third-party brands and company distributors.
