Founded in 1972 by the Sorbaro family, and with roots dating back to 1949, Mavis is a leading independent tire dealer and automotive aftermarket service provider with approximately 1,200 units across the Northeast, Midwest and South, operating under the Mavis Discount Tire, Express Oil Change, Brakes Plus, and Town Fair Tire brands. The Company’s repair and maintenance products and services include tires, brakes, alignments, suspension, shocks, struts, oil changes, battery replacement and exhaust work, among other offerings. Mavis has rapidly grown its platform through the successful completion of several strategic acquisitions in recent years, including its March 2018 merger with Express Oil & Brakes Plus and its November 2020 merger with Town Fair Tire. Since 2015, the Company has added more than 1,000 service centers to its growing network of stores.

TSG invested in the business in partnership with BayPine, a Boston-based PE firm that focuses on digital / technological transformation, and together our shared vision is to work alongside founders David and Stephen Sorbaro to further enhance the Company’s digital ecosystem and consumer experience, while accelerating the Company’s pursuit of new unit development and accretive M&A opportunities.
Strategic Focus
Leveraging our deep consumer expertise and multi-unit retail experience, TSG is working closely with the management team and BayPine on enhancing their digital ecosystem and consumer marketing efforts, pursuing accretive acquisitions and new greenfield site developments, and augmenting the team and infrastructure to help the Company continue to scale.
